Women AIM To Succeed At Hunting
Men have long asked the question "What do women want?"I'm not about to step into that mine field, but I can direct you to some of the answers to this question: "Why do women hunt?" In AIM: The Passion Of Pursuit several women demonstrate their shooting prowess and answer this question themselves.Slam, bam, bang. And bang, bang, boom. Women from 3 different generations shoot and study and learn and train and strive to perfect the traditional arts of shooting straight and fine. They punch paper at 100 yards, slam steel out to 700 yards, stalk two-dimensional antelope and bash charging buffalo. During breaks in the action they begin to explain just what it is about shooting and hunting that attracts and inspires them. Some are "old hands" at hunting, others are complete novices. Yet they all cared enough to journey to FTW Ranch in Texas to learn proper technique from experts. To a woman, they were dedicated to doing it right. They take their responsibilities as gun handlers and hunters seriously. And they demonstrate this both in the classroom and on the range.
As expected, several wanted to join husbands or boy friends afield, but others hunted while their mates stayed home. Most expressed a moral obligation to kill quickly and cleanly, to fully understand their rifles, bullets and ballistics. They wanted to be in complete control of themselves and their gear so they could “do it right.” And that’s what the FTW SAAM course teaches: one shot; one kill. No guessing, no hoping, no wishful thinking. When you lock a round in battery, align sights on an animal and begin that trigger squeeze, you KNOW where you are going to park that bullet.
Watch these women engage, train, practice and explain what they want from themselves, their firearms and their role in our hunting heritage. You might even gain some insight into the first question.
